51. Straits Settlements 5 Cents 1920 Nickel

image 1: reverse

image 2: obverse
Country of Origin: Straits Settlements (Now a part of Malaysia)
Date: 1920
Denomination: Five Cents
Weight: 4.00g
Edge: Plain
Dimension: Diameter of 20.0mm
Composition: Nickel
Population: 20,000,000
Reference: KN16, SSC22
Mint: Unknown
Category: Normal Circulation Coin
Extra Note: -

Another coin of Straits Settlements, bigger in size and made from Nickel, at first I suspected that this is a fake coin. But as always, our first judgments are usually the false ones.

There are two types of 5 cents of 1920, which is the other one made from Silver. To my surprise, the Silver 5 Cents commands very high price, RM21k for uncirculated piece! Do you have it?

RM21k for a mere 5 cent coin, quite nonsense if we are looking on the non-collector side. hehe
Thanks for dropping, whycollect.

Hi Evilz,
The silver coin is of smaller diameter rather than copper nickel, and for silver version, the number 5 is smaller.
